I Used To Be A Chin Chin Seller- Waje

Talking about her grass to grace story, waje had a chat with Saturday Beats where she spoke about how she hustled as a chin chin seller and also explained her first ever reward for music was N500. Hear her;

“I don’t like cooking but I love to bake and I did that for a while with my friend Ijeoma Uzodima. We used to have this chin chin company and we used to sell everything in our stock. I remember that the magistrates in Onitsha at the time used to order from us and we used to sell it in a small can for about N600. We would cut 50kg chin chin for three days and my back would be paining me. I probably would have continued with that if I was not a singer. Ijeoma who is my very good friend was actually the one who used to push me,” she said.

The sonorous songstress said that the first time she was paid for her performance, she was given N500 and it lasted her for a week. Continue...

The day she was given N300,000, she wanted to go crazy. Waje said, “When I started my career, it was someone that drew my attention that I could make money from music. I remember the first time I sang in my school in UNN, I was wearing a red dress and I sang Whitney Houston’s ‘I will always love you.’ It was just my voice and there was no instrumental, the crowd went crazy. I think after my performance, they gave me about N500. That was enough for a week in school. I remember the first time I earned N300,000, it was from Zain Mobile Telecomms. They had an end of the year party in Enugu and they asked me to come and perform. When I got the money, I went haywire. I am the first in my family, so the money really helped to stabilise a few things.

Beyonce & Jay Z Name Twins

With a big sister named Blue Ivy, Beyonce and Jay Z's new twins were always going to have unusual monikers.

And despite the couple's silence on their new babies - they have yet to even officially confirm the birth - their names appear to have finally emerged.

The newborns were revealed to be named Rumi and Sir Carter, after their parents filed trademarks to protect the names.

According to TMZ the company run by Beyonce and Jay Z filed legal documents on Friday to secure the rights to the unusual monikers.

While both names are distinctly unusual choices, Sir is the more uncommon of the two - with the name normally used as a title before a man's first name.

Meanwhile, while Rumi is a Japanese girls name, it's also the last name of the famed 13th century Persian poet Jelaluddin Rumi.

My Husband Supports Every Role I Play, Including S*x Scenes- Omotola

Premium Times had an exclusive interview with award-winning actress, Omotola Ekeinde who has appeared in over 300 films. Omotola in the interview speaks on playing a controversial character in Alter Ego.She talks about the sex scene, what her husband feels about it and what she might get from her fans in return. Lol, I am only bringing you, the ones that concerns us here, lol. Enjoy!

PT: Your fans can’t stop talking about your sex scenes in Alter Ego. Was your husband comfortable with you playing the role?

Omotola: Some of the sex scenes in Alter Ego were downplayed because I’m married. But I won’t play the sex scenes if it wasn’t necessary to be included in the film. I know by starring in this movie that my fans would either hate me or love me forever. While shooting the film, I knew I was doing something quite risky. There are several ways to shoot a sex scene tastefully. I’m all for playing a sex scene convincingly and my husband knows this. I tell my husband, “You know what darling, you married an actor”; and secondly, he is my biggest fan. I tell him, “Do you want me to be great or do you just want me to be good?” He will say, “I want you to be great, sparklingly great”. Then I’ll say, “Ehen, we go love o” and he’s fine with it. He understands but just like every other human being and the professional that he is, he too wants to be convinced that I played a sex scene because it was necessary. I know when he watches movies sometimes he would say, “Did they have to kiss if they were not going to kiss well?” One more question below...

PT: You got pretty raunchy with your co-stars in your latest movie, Alter Ego. Are you ready for viewer’s criticisms?

Omotola: When I wasn’t even confident, I starred in a movie called a prostitute, which was released 22 years ago. If I didn’t die then, is it now? I’m ready

T.B JOSHUA’S N10M LARGESSE TEARS CDHR APART

The ongoing crisis rocking one of Nigeria’s foremost civil society organisations, the Committee for Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, took a new turn after Lagos State chapter of the association disclosed that N10 million was allegedly donated to the association by founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, Pastor T.B Joshua.

The State chapter added that the fund was allegedly donated by the cleric to CDHR through its President, Malachy Ugwumadu, and one Ade Ikuesan, to mobilize members to court whenever case on his collapsed six-storey building that allegedly led to death of over 100 Nigerians and foreigners at Lagos State Corona Court is scheduled to hold.

Meanwhile, Ugwumadu had debunked the allegations, claiming that the Lagos chapter of the association was peddling false claim.

Speaking on behalf of the members, Chairman of Lagos chapter, Alex Omotehinse, in an interview with Vanguard yesterday, said that aside the fund, the cleric also allegedly donated 500 bags of rice, two generators and promised yearly donations of millions of naira to the association.

He said: “President, Malachy Ugwumadu and Ade Ikuesan wanted us to mobilise in favour and support of Prophet T.B. Joshua as a result of the donation of the sum of N10 million, 500 bags of rice, two bigger generators and yearly donations of millions of Naira.

“This is the centre point of current tension, persecution and inciting of members against themselves by the President simply because we refuse to mobilise over 100 members of our branch with placards in support of Prophet T. B. Joshua on his case at the Lagos State Corona Court as instructed by the President and one Ade Ikuesan,” he added

Man Exchanges Boy For 3 Bags Of Rice In Lagos

An unidentified middle aged man abducted a 10-year-old boy, who was on an errand for his mother, and exchanged him for three bags of rice in Ijegun area of Lagos.

The suspect, now on the run, reportedly accosted the victim (names withheld), weekend, at Prince Bus Stop, Isheri Oshun, while on the errand for his mother. He was said to have introduced himself to the unsuspecting boy as a relative.

In an apparent move to convince the boy, the stranger, followed him to the shop where he was sent to buy a bottle of groundnut oil and thereafter, took him to a shop where he collected three bags of rice.

He convinced the salesgirl, identified simply as Deborah, that he was going to get the money, while his brother remained with her. However, that was not to be as the salesgirl waited endlessly without seeing the stranger or the money for the bags of rice, which totalled N48,000.

The transaction

Speaking with Vanguard, the salesgirl said: “ When the man came to the shop with the boy, he asked how much was a bag of rice. I told him it was N16,000 and he left with the boy, saying he was going to tell the woman that sent them. “Moments later, he came back and said that he needed two bags.

Again, he called the purported person that sent them on phone and suggested that they should add one more bag.

“After the call, he told me to help him get a tricycle that would convey the three bags of rice to Fire Junction, where he claimed the owner was. He said the boy will remain with me while he went to get the money.

“After waiting for close to one hour without seeing him, I told the boy to take me to his mum’s shop at the said Fire Junction.

“But he said that his mother did not own a shop there and that the stranger only met him on the road and brought him to the shop.

“It was at that point that I knew I had been robbed. I alerted my neighbour, who said that the stranger must have used the boy as exchange for the bags of rice.”

Meanwhile, apprehension had set in at the boy’s house after his disturbed mother visited the shop, only to be informed that his son had left with a stranger. While a search party was combing the vicinity for the boy, the owner of the shop and the salesgirl, were sighted taking him to the Isheri-Oshun Police Division.

During interrogation, the boy told his parents: “After returning from the shop, the stranger asked if I knew where they sell bags of rice. I told him they were selling close to our house.

“But he said he did not want to buy there that I should follow him to buy elsewhere.

“I followed him because he introduced himself as my cousin. He collected the money I had with me to pay for the fare and told me to wait at the shop, that he would come and take me back home after dropping the bags of rice.”

The Police, however, released him to his parents same day with a directive to report back to the station yesterday, where a meeting between the boy’s parents and owner of the shop who insisted on getting the money for the bags of rice.
