BBOG To Resume Matches To Aso Rock On Thursday

The members of the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) advocacy group has promised to resume their maches come Tursday this week. The group’s spokesperson, Sesugh Akume, made this known in a statement..

“As announced three weeks ago on September 14, the #BringBackOurGirls movement shall be resuming marches to the State House every three working days to underscore the issues we have been raising and seeking to be addressed to no avail.

“Our demands have been: The Federal Government must redouble efforts to immediately rescue or secure the release of our remaining 113 #ChibokGirls.

NCC Warns Mobile Operators Against Unregistered SIM Cards

The Director Public Affairs, DPA, at the Nigerian Communications Commission, Tony Ojobo, on Tuesday reiterated the long-standing position of the Commission on the tolerance of unregistered SIM Cards by telecom service providers on their networks.

Implicitly, Mr. Ojobo warned the general public not to buy pre-registered SIM Cards from persons and businesses that had done multiple SIM Cards registration in order to resell later. The DPA was emphatic that the burden of this practice lies with the Mobile Network Operators who are expected to deactivate SIM cards that do not carry verifiable identities, because operators are under obligations to have the identities of all callers on their respective networks.

Gunmen Kill 2 In Attack On University Convoy, Kenya

Two staff members of a Kenyan university were killed south of Mombasa on Tuesday when gunmen fired on vehicles carrying them and students to their campus, the area police chief said.

The identity of the gunmen was unclear. Police in the coastal county of Kwale, where the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) has a campus, said they could be robbers or militants.

Security is poor in the area and the convoy had a police escort. Somali Islamist militants al Shabaab frequently carry out attacks along the Kenyan coast and have been recruiting new members there.

In 2015, al Shabaab gunmen killed 148 students at a university in Kenya’s Garissa town near the Kenya-Somali border, an attack that provoked shock and outrage in Kenya and abroad.

Five Remanded For Stoning Man (70) To Death

A Kano State Senior Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded five men in the prison custody for allegedly kidnapping and stoning a 70-year-old man, Usman Danbuba, to death.

The accused were identified as Wada Mohammed, 30; Ya’u Muhammad, 22; Musa Inusa, 35; Sale Buba, 27; and Sule Garba, 45.

They were charged with five counts bordering on criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide and illegal possession of firearms.

The septuagenarian was reportedly kidnapped on May 18, 2017 in the Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano.

Leaders, Elders Of PDP From 19 Northern States Meet To Condemn Fayose's Presidential Ambition

Leaders and elders of the Peoples Democratic Party from the 19 northern states met in Abuja on Tuesday and condemned the presidential ambition of Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

The meeting was called by the leaders of the party in the region to harmonise their position on the zoning arrangement of the party ahead of the 2019 general elections and the PDP national convention.

The region said no other part of the country would contest the party’s 2019 presidential ticket with members of the party from the region.

The convener of the meeting and a former Minister of Information,  Prof. Jerry Gana, while welcoming delegates from the three geopolitical zones in the North to the meeting, said there was a need to elect the best candidates in accordance with the zoning formula of the party.

Nelly's girlfriend is giving clear signs she's sticking by her man during his rape case.
